What does personalized coaching actually look like?
Rachel came to me looking for a fitness program that could fit into her life — not another generic workout plan that expected her to rearrange her life around it.
She wanted something realistic, understandable, and built around her goals, schedule, preferences, and limitations.
Here’s what she had to say about her experience so far.
Rachel’s Full Review
Full disclosure: the coach behind Flex Addict Coaching is my brother. Which probably means I know better than most whether he actually listens when you tell him something … or just nods and does whatever he was planning to do anyway. 😂
And in this case, he absolutely listened.
Before writing my program, Sam took the time to really get to know me – not just as his big sister, but as someone who was struggling with her health and fitness goals and had been for quite some time. He took time to learn not just what my fitness goals were, but what my actual life looks like. We talked about my schedule as a busy mom and business owner, health struggles and physical limitations I needed to work around, including hip and back issues, the types of workouts I enjoy, the things I don’t enjoy, and what I realistically have the time and energy to stick with.
He asked a lot of questions and paid attention to the answers. Case in point: I told him that burpees were probably my most hated exercise on the face of the planet, and I am pleased to report that he did not take that as a personal challenge to build me a program full of burpees. There is not a single burpee in sight across my entire program!
The whole process felt genuinely individualized. It never felt like he was trying to squeeze me into some generic workout plan he had already written. He took my goals, schedule, limitations, preferences, and current abilities and built the program around me specifically.
I’m still in the process of getting through the first round of my program, so I can’t give a dramatic before-and-after result just yet. However, what I can say is that the finished program is well written, easy to understand, realistic for my life, and actually feels doable; which, for me, is a pretty important part of whether a fitness program is ever going to work in the first place.
Sam was also incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. Any time I had a question, needed clarification, or thought of something we hadn’t covered, he was easy to reach and willing to explain things or make adjustments.
Yes, he’s my brother, but I wouldn’t put my name on a testimonial just because of that. I was genuinely impressed by how much thought and effort he put into understanding what I needed and creating something that felt like it was actually made for me.
If you’re looking for someone who is going to hand you a generic workout plan and send you on your way, this isn’t that. He puts the work into understanding the person he’s coaching and building them a program around their individual goals, abilities, limitations, preferences, and REAL LIFE.
And, so far at least, respecting their deeply held anti-burpee beliefs.

What this says about Flex Addict Coaching
That’s ultimately what I want Flex Addict Coaching to be about. Your program shouldn’t require you to completely change your life to make fitness work. It should be built around the life you actually live.
